Martha LynnThompson Martha Lynn Thompson was the organist and associate director of music at St. James United Methodist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas from 1969 until her retirement in 2002. Along with her husband, Felix, the director of music, she also directed the 14 handbell choirs. She has served as National Secretary of the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers and on the Choristers Guild Board of Directors. In 2001 she was made an AGEHR Honorary Life Member, the highest honor the Guild can bestow.
She received her degree in organ and theory from Henderson State University and has published works for beginning bell choirs, handbell/handchime music, and teaching materials for school and church. Retirement has afforded her the opportunity to serve as volunteer director of three handbell choirs at St. James UMC, to work behind the scenes with the St. James Alumni Ringers, and to be active as an arranger of handbell music.
