Johannes MatthiasMichel

Johannes Matthias Michel, born in 1962 and growing up at the lake of Constance (Germany), studied piano, church music, and organ in Basel, Heidelberg, Frankfurt and Stuttgart with teachers Heinz Werner Zimmermann and Ludger Lohmann. From 1988 to 1998 Michel was the district church music director in Eberbach am Neckar and Kantor at the Michaelskirche. Since 1999 he is music director of the Christuskirche Mannheim and Landeskantor of northern Baden.  He also conducts the Bachchoir Mannheim and the chamber choir Mannheim. Michel is the president of the Karg-Elert Society, composer and editor of more than 150 publications. He teaches organ at the State Academy of music Mannheim. His discography includes more than a dozen CD recordings (Bach, Karg-Elert etc.). He also concertizes extensivly and has performed in numerous radio and television productions.
