Look Inside

This collection contains 91 new hymns written by Rev. Stephen P. Starke, the premier Lutheran hymnwriter. Those who read and pray hymns devotionally will enjoy the melody-line music notations and detailed Scripture references for each hymn. The season, occasion, or topic are indicated for each hymn, and comprehensive indexes aid pastors and music directors in selecting hymns for worship.

“The center of Starke’s hymnody has always been the person and work of Jesus Christ, as revealed in Holy Scripture. . . . This collection represents a most bounteous flowering of the Church’s song—a song that proclaims the Christ of Scripture on the lips of the redeemed. And it is truly marvelous in its mercy!” - Rev. Jon D. Vieker, PhD

Stephen P. Starke is pastor of St. John Lutheran Church (Amelith) in Bay City, Michigan, and previously served parishes in Illinois and Connecticut. His more than two hundred original hymn texts and translations have appeared in numerous hymnals, songbooks, and choral settings published in North America, Europe, and Africa. He is the recipient of three honorary doctorate degrees for his contributions in the field of hymnody.
