Rev. Henry V. Gerike is an accomplished conductor, composer, editor, teacher, and writer. He is recently retired, and his vibrant career included serving as kantor at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, where he directed all campus choirs; serving as a writer and editor for Concordia Publishing House; and serving as organist and kantor for congregations in Illinois and Missouri.

For fifteen years, Gerike served as a teacher for Lutheran elementary schools in Missouri and Illinois. Gerike then earned his master of divinity degree from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri. While at the seminary, he began conducting the Concordia Seminary Chorus, which he would direct for the next decade. During his career at Concordia Publishing House, Gerike wrote a devotional for church choirs entitled Christ in Our Hearts, Christ on Our Lips.

Gerike continues to serve as kantor for Church of the Reformation–Lutheran in Affton, Missouri. He also works at the LCMS International Center in St. Louis
