James Marriott occupies the Kreft Chair of Music Arts and serves as the director of music arts for Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. There, he conducts Seminary choirs, serves as the principal organist for services, and teaches worship courses. He also serves as pastor and church musician throughout the St. Louis community.

Marriott holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in Church Music from Concordia University Nebraska and Wisconsin. He earned his Ph.D. in liturgical theology at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Ill. He also was trained and ordained as a pastor through Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. 

Jim is a regular recitalist and lecturer across the United States. He is especially interested in helping congregations explore the intersection between liturgy and culture.

Marriott and his wife, Kristi, have two children, Joel and Kirstin.
