Richard Jeffrey has composed church music for the past 30 years in addition to directing three church choirs and teaching music. With degrees in music from Elmhurst College, Elmhurst, IL, Richard often uses his own texts for his compositions as well as those by Jaroslav Vajda, Timothy Dudley-Smith, and Thomas Troeger. He was a personal friend of the hymnist Jary Vajda. Richard's composition, “Peace Came to Earth” was played on Good Morning America television program. It has also been included in the Wisconsin Synod hymnal and recorded by a number of choirs and artists.

Richard has been commissioned to write pieces for many churches over the years. He has also been published by many publishers including CPH, Morning Star, Augsburg Fortress, Alliance and Crossroads Music. In 2017 he released a book entitled From Grace to Verse, From Verse to Song published by Trafford Publishing. It is one hundred original hymn texts that he has written. Richard lives in Lemont, IL, with his wife, Susan, and their two daughters, who all play the flute. Because of this fact, he often incorporates flute parts into his compositions.
