Sondra Tucker earned a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from the University of Arkansas. She continued her studies at the University of Memphis, where she studied organ with John David Peterson and children's choirs with Shirley McRae. Her Master of Music is in Sacred Music. She has worked as a composer, conductor, and organist/choirmaster in Tennessee and Texas, and is in demand as a handbell clinician and teacher. She continues to serve professional organizations such as the American Guild of Organists, and the Handbell Musicians of America.

She is currently serving as Organist/Choirmaster at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Houston, Texas, where she oversees the instrumental and choral ministries of the church.
